It’s Raining Season Prevent Water Damage

The first signs of water damage might seem trivial. Warnings like water stains on the ceilings or a leak under the kitchen sink can lead to real problems. Maintenance is key: Check and replace washing machine hoses. Water heaters last 8-15 years-check for rust on tank, water spots around the base, drain pans full of water. Is your icemaker hose firmly attached, is it copper or plastic? The plastic can easily spring pin holes that can cause slow leaks. Any missing or deteriorated caulk or grout around your sinks, showers or bathtubs? This is a major entry area for water. Some of the toilet tank tablets on the market are corrosive causing tank parts to break down and leak. Know where your condensate line is for your a/c and that it is not clogged. Know where your shut off valve is for your entire home and shut off when you are out of town.
